AltaGas’ Blythe Energy has donated $500 to Friends of the Library, an organization that raises funding for programs, materials and equipment for the local Palo Verde Valley District Library. With the funds received, the Library will purchase non-fiction books to expand the current collection and supplies for arts and crafts and recreational activities.

“It’s an honour to work for a company that cares about our local community and contributes to these types of organizations. The summer reading program is great and offers so many activities throughout the summer for kids,” says Olivia Godinez-Lopez, Administrative Assistant, Blythe Energy. “There aren’t a lot of recreational options for youth in our community and these programs give kids options.”

“Donations, such as these, provide much needed support to the Library. It not only funds books, but equipment needed for the upcoming events that the library will be hosting. The main goal is to encourage literacy for our children,” says Dawn Williams, Treasurer of Friends of the Library.
